FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – MOBILE GROOMING FLEET
Handyman / RV / Electrical / Plumbing / Mobile Equipment Experience
Flexible part-time role | Expected weekly pay around $400
Position Summary:
Zoomin Groomin Greenville is a 7 days operation high-volume luxury mobile pet grooming business, looking for a dependable Field Service Technician to help keep our mobile grooming vans in great working condition. This is a hands-on, practical maintenance role focused on light repairs, basic systems upkeep, and day-to-day reliability of the equipment of our mobile grooming vehicles. When larger vehicle maintenance is needed (oil changes, tires, inspections, etc.), those services are handled through local dealerships or repair shops. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with general handyman-style work, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes pride in keeping equipment running smoothly.
Compensation & Paid Time:
What You Will Do:
Answer daytime support calls from groomers or operations managers and troubleshoot equipment issues by phone.
Travel to van locations when phone troubleshooting does not solve the issue and urgent support is needed.
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance in the evenings after vans return from service.
Maintain and troubleshoot A/C, dryers, tubs, water pumps, water heaters, generators, battery and inverter systems, electric grooming tables, fans, plumbing, electrical components, vacuums, and other salon equipment.
Take vans to approved vendors as needed for oil changes, tire replacement, inspections, and other vehicle/mechanical needs.
Coordinate with outside vendors for major vehicle repairs and specialized service work.
Maintain basic maintenance records, repair notes, preventative maintenance schedules, and a current repair backlog.
Keep a practical inventory of critical spare parts and consumables.
Communicate clearly with groomers, operations managers, and ownership about repair status, timing, and van availability.
Schedule & Availability:
Flexible part-time role with approximately 10 hours of active work per week.
Most repair and preventative maintenance work is expected in the evenings, mainly around 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, after vans return to the shop.
Our vans operate 7 days per week, so the role requires general responsiveness for occasional daytime troubleshooting calls.
Estimated call volume is about 1 to 2 support call per day on average.
Approximately 80% of calls are expected to be solved over the phone in a few minutes.
On-site visits are only expected when phone troubleshooting does not solve the issue or when the van needs urgent operational support.
The technician should be reliable, responsive, and clear about availability, delays, and repair timing.
Ideal Background:
Strong handyman, maintenance, RV, trailer, facilities, field-service, small equipment, HVAC, generator, plumbing, electrical, or mobile equipment experience.
Comfortable diagnosing practical mechanical, electrical, plumbing, battery/inverter, generator, and equipment problems and problem solving
Able to work independently, prioritize problems, and make practical repair decisions.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Organized enough to track repairs, parts, vendor visits, and recurring issues.
Reliable, responsive, positive mindset, professional, and calm when supporting groomers during the workday.
Performance Expectations:
Keep the mobile grooming fleet operational and minimize lost appointments due to equipment failures.
Complete preventative maintenance on schedule and identify issues before they become emergencies.
Maintain fleet availability above 95% whenever reasonably possible.
Communicate repair status and estimated timing clearly to operations managers and ownership.
Build a practical system for recurring problems, spare parts, vendor relationships, and maintenance records.
